NOTE: This is a TERM appointment (not-to-exceed 1 year and 1 day). Term appointments are non-status, nonpermanent appointments of limited duration (more than 1 year but not more than 4). Term employees are eligible to earn leave and generally have the same benefits as permanent employees including health and life insurance, within-grade increases and Federal Employees Retirement System and Thrift Savings Plan coverage. Term appointments may be extended without further competition (up to the 4 year maximum). The appointment to a Term position does not confer eligibility for promotion or reassignment to other positions or the ability to be non-competitively converted to permanent employment.
Manages program and Jupyter notebooks development for training modules;
Works with a diverse group of research contributors;
Provides programming and database support for research projects;
Knowledgeable in database design and database optimization;
Conducts hardware and software analysis and cost factor analysis;
Provides data science training in biomedical informatics;
Determines data backup systems and protocols needed to support web-based applications;
Evaluates the researchers clinical trial data reporting requirements;
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Basic Requirement: All applicants must meet this basic education requirement of successful completion of a bachelor's degree in computer science or a bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions. Applicants should have sufficient knowledge to understand the fundamental concepts and techniques of computer science. Courses designed to provide an introduction to computer science techniques and methodologies, to problems of system design, and to other specialized fields are acceptable. Courses or experience in teaching elementary, business, or shop mathematics are not acceptable.: Must possess a Bachelor's degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university in a major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of this position such as psychology, mental health, counseling and/or provisions of social services. Specialized Experience: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-9) in the Federal Service that has given you the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of this position. Specialized experience includes work that involves developing systems using data analysis with software applications and hardware to support the needs of an organization. You should possess knowledge of some programming languages and techniques including some of the following: Website/services development and design, relational databases, SQL, XML, .NET, C#, JSPs, XSLT, JAVA, Apache / Tomcat, JBoss, IIS, Android and IOS, Objective C, Javascript and .Net and J2EE architectures. This occupation includes professional positions which primarily involve the application of, or research into, computer science methods and techniques to store, manipulate, transform or present information by means of computer systems. The primary requirements of the work are (a) professional competence in applying the theoretical foundations of computer science, including computer system architecture and system software organization, the representation and transformation of information structures, and the theoretical models for such representations and transformations; (b) specialized knowledge of the design characteristics, limitations, and potential applications of systems having the ability to transform information, and of broad areas of applications of computing which have common structures, processes, and techniques; and (c) knowledge of relevant mathematical and statistical sciences. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary. There may be some walking, bending, carrying of light items, and occasionally may require lifting of up to 60 lbs. No special physical ability is required to perform the work. Follows established safety procedures and protocols.
