Summary

About the Position: This position is located at Sierra Army Depot, With the exception of Fire and Police, employees work a 4 day-10 hour work week, Mon-Thur 6:30am-5:00pm. Sierra Army Depot is located in the town of Herlong, California. This is approx 60 miles north of Reno, NV; & 35 miles south of Susanville, CA. The Depot has an Army Command Officer with a predominately civilian work force of approximately 1300 employees. Child care facilities are available.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Materials Examiner and Identifier~ without more than normal supervision. SCREEN OUT - I have the ability to perform common material identification. I have determined the positive identification of material. I have verified material against accompanying documentation. I made final determination of the condition of material. I have used automated data systems for accountability of material. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision
  • Physical Effort - Regularly lifts and handles items weighing up to 44 pounds unassisted. Use assisting devices for heavier items. May climb in, on, or under vehicles. Works on hard surfaces. Constant kneeling, crouching, bending, stooping, and walking are required. Works in tiring or uncomfortable positions, or in close quarters.
  • Working Conditions - Most work is performed indoors in a shop or storage area. May be exposed to seasonal extremes of temperatures. Risk of shifting or falling loads, may work around moving vehicles. Regularly exposed to dirt, noise, fumes, or vibrations. May be subject to abrasions, cuts, or punctures. Safety shoes are required. Addition personal protective equipment may be required depending on situation.

Education

Some federal jobs allow education to be substituted for experience. For this position, education substitution is not allowed; you must meet experience requirements.
