Duties

Help
  • Plan the daily work of the crew and heavy equipment as well as the methods and procedures to be used for all assigned road maintenance or construction activity.
  • Operate various types of heavy equipment, such as graders, tractors with bulldozer or angle dozer blades, front-end loaders, backhoes, trench diggers, and large industrial tractors with attachments to perform construction and road maintenance work.
  • Supervise vehicle and equipment maintenance to ensure they meet safety standards and are cost-effective.
  • Confirm vehicle and equipment meet all appropriate State Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements and regulations for weight allowances to travel on state and federal highways.
  • Operate heavy equipment to move earth on mountains and steep slopes to grade the earth to the general contour desired on trails, roads, canals, tunnels, or construction sites
  • Operate heavy equipment to complete excavation, backfilling, and grading of construction materials to specifications as required on such projects as roads, ditches, campgrounds, minor and major culverts and other construction projects.

There is no specific length of training or experience required; however, the applicant must be able to demonstrate through experience shown in the resume materials that they possess the skill level that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of Engineering Equipment Operator Supervisor without more than normal supervision.
