Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Cook without more than normal supervision. The screen out for this position is ability to perform common cooking tasks by preparing raw food or assembling prepared food for serving, to prepare items that require little or no processing and to operate basic kitchen equipment. I assemble salads and prepare salad dressings, make sandwiches and assemble box meals. Clean all equipment and work areas after each use. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.

Physical Efforts- Works requires continual standing and walking; frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, and pulling, and bending. Frequently lifts and moves objects weighing up to 40 pounds, and occasionally lift or move objects weighing over 40 pounds with the assistance of lifting devices or other workers.
Working Conditions- The work is performed in kitchen areas which are well lighted but are often hot and noisy. The incumbent is exposed to steam, fumes, and odors from cooking and to extreme temperature changes when entering walking refrigeration or freezing units. There is danger of slipping on wet floors that have been recently mopped or where food has been spilled. Subject to possible cuts from knives and burns from steam, hot foods, stoves, grease, and water.
