  • You will serve as the supervisor responsible for overall planning and scheduling of transportation operations and maintenance matters.
  • You will plan and schedule work and provide input for Capital Purchase Plan.
  • You will carry out EEO policies and communicate policy support to ensure equality and incorporation of a well-balanced workforce.
  • You will analyze, establish, and inspect work requirements, progress, and completion to assure proper quality, quantity, efficiency, and economical operations are met.
  • You will act as the certifying official and provide oversight of maintenance, inspection, and testing over the Weight Handling Equipment (WHE) program to include CAT 1 and CAT III cranes.

  • This position requires travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously during field visits and inspections.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Applying technical methods, procedures and practices applicable to the management, operation, maintenance, and repair of construction equipment; 2) Reading, interpreting, and analyzing various guidelines, technical bulletins, funding documents, and specifications to determine present and projected vehicle and equipment allowances in accordance with requirements and funding constraints; 3) Inspecting work and ensuring proper quality has been met; 4) Assuring that appropriate production reports and administrative records are maintained.

This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.

The incumbent will be included on the after-hours emergency recall list.

In the event of a major emergency or disaster, all employees will be notified by their supervisors to report to work. Upon notification, the incumbent must report in a timely manner.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is divided between paperwork and the field. Paperwork is primarily sedentary in nature and performed in an office setting. Fieldwork is performed outdoors and in shop situations requiring standing, walking, stooping, climbing, and bending.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment usually involves everyday risks or discomforts of working in offices, riding in vehicles, and visiting work sites. Field visits and inspections of equipment and facilities will place the incumbent in an industrial environment, around moving parts, machines, confined spaces and where chemicals or fuels are being used or stored. This may require the use of additional safety equipment; i.e. hardhat, safety glasses, hearing protection, facemasks, etc. Work may require travel away from the normal duty station on an occasional basis. When preparing reports, correspondence, and other documents, prolonged sitting may be required.

A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments.
