The person(s) selected for this/these position(s) will have a leading role in teaching core and elective courses of the Department of Command, Leadership, and Management and its associated programs.

The person(s) selected for this/these position(s) will have a leading role in teaching core and elective courses of the Department of Command, Leadership, and Management and its associated programs.
Teaching core courses related to strategic leadership and defense management and contributing to the development of these courses.
Serving annually as a faculty instructor for one seminar, faculty advisor providing counsel for up to six mid- career professionals, and project advisor for student research projects.
Designing and teaching elective courses and directed readings for selected students.
Providing counsel to mid-career professionals.
Engaging in service (internal and external) in support of USAWC missions.
Coordinating with external agencies on behalf of USAWC.
Contributing to the Army War College mission by fulfilling faculty duties as required.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position may require the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/Secret security clearance.
This position may require the incumbent to comply with the Drug Testing Program requirements, depending on security clearance level.
Must be able and willing to travel worldwide.

SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTORS/KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Applicants will be rated based on the criteria listed below by a panel of subject matter experts appointed with the purpose of identifying the best-qualified candidates.
1. Ability for superlative teaching at the graduate or Senior Service College level.
2. Mastery of enterprise leadership and management. Preference toward familiarity with defense management programs, policies, and procedures across the Department of Defense.
3. Refined oral and written communication skills, including the ability to design and supervise graduate-level courses, direct and assess student research projects, and conduct associated educational programs.
4. Ability to advance knowledge in the fields of strategic leadership and/or defense resource management through research, presentation, and publication.
5. The ability to conceptualize, design, and write lesson plans that support the Resident Education Program (REP) at the U.S. Army War College.
6. Ability to prepare, teach, and lecture on subjects related to strategic leadership and defense management.
7. A graduate degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field is required; a terminal degree is desirable, but not required. Preferred disciplines include: Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Sociology, Public Administration, Systems Engineering, and related fields.
8. Experience and high levels of performance in defense management staff and executive positions at the strategic level are highly desirable. Examples of this experience include, but are not limited to the following: Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), Joint, Service Staff, or TRADOC experience with Force Management, the Planning, Programming, Budget, Execution (PPBE) System, the Joint Capabilities Integration Development System (JCIDS), or the Defense Acquisition System (DAS).

Only degrees from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute education for experience.
