  • Ensures that hazardous materials/waste within work area are handled/ processed within operating guidelines.
  • Disassembles, repairs, overhauls, modifies, and fabricates a variety of components of less complex electronic/electrical equipment .
  • Identify, separate, discard, and clean various cables and components before repair or test.
  • Interpret a variety of schematic flow charts, specifications, optical diagrams and drawings to determine work procedures and trade techniques to be used.
  • Determine problems that exist in the harnesses or components being tested.

  • This position requires successful completion of pre-placement and annual medical examinations.

Qualifications

This position is a TERM position. It is temporary and may be extended up to a maximum of eight years. This position may be converted to permanent career or career-conditional appointment without further competition as long as all requirements are met and a conversion opportunity exists. To be eligible for conversion, employee must complete at least 2 years of current continuous service under a TERM appointment in the competitive service AND employee must have a current performance rating under such TERM appointment of at least fully successful or equivalent

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Electronics Worker~ without more than normal supervision. Performs routine, repetitive work and the un-complex repair, overhaul, modification and fabrication of electronic/electrical devices/equipment such as circuit test sets, breakout boxes, power monitor test sets, power distribution boxes, shielded and non-shielded harness, and cable and harness assemblies. Disassembles, repairs, overhauls, modifies, and fabricates a variety of components of less complex electronic/electrical equipment such as electrical circuit test sets, cant angle sensor test unit, break-out boxes, power monitor test set, power distribution boxes and a wide variety of cables and harness assemblies.- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element)
  • Physical Effort: Work assignments require light to moderate physical effort. Employees frequently lift, carry or handle items weighing up to 40 pounds. Occasionally they handle items greater than 40 pounds. Incumbent must work in a sitting position for extended periods. Frequent standing, walking, bending, and stooping is required.
  • Working Conditions: Work is performed inside of shops that are adequately heated, lighted, and ventilated or in shop van at site where the weather elements are a factor. Is subject to injuries such as cuts, bruises and burns caused by electrical shock, RF energy and soldering irons. Possible exposure to hazardous materials/waste. Wears protective clothing and equipment (e.g., rubber boots, coveralls, goggles, aprons, gloves, respirator, etc.) as situations warrant.
