Serve as the 59th Signal Battalion/Network Enterprise Center (NEC) Planner.
Provide project management, analysis, design, engineering, cost estimate development, testing, configuring, implementing, integrating and quality assurance of installed IT systems used in voice, data, and/or video formats.
Responsible for the planning of configuration and implementation of contract installation of hardware (equipment) upgrades (e.g., multiplexers, modems, switches, etc), backbone facility upgrades.
Recommend and provides technical solutions for the installation of new or improvement of existing network transport configurations.
Inspect facilities and services provided under commercial contracts for networks to ensure compliance with the contract.
Serve as Contracting Officer's Representative for installation of IT projects
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain the appropriate Information Assurance certification in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M, Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, within 6 months of entry onto duty.

Basic Requirement for Information Technology Specialist (Network Services):
Specialized and Other Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: designing infrastructure for Local Area Network (LAN) transport and Wide Area Network (WAN) interface. Develops cost estimates, prepares system design plans for IT network/systems which may include; conducting site surveys and inspections of facilities or equipment. Analyzes and provides recommendations on engineering studies, installation plans or related information for IT construction projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined:
(1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: completing work independently that rarely requires editing or review by others.
