Duties

 You will serve as the First Coast Guard District's Digital Forensic Lab (DFL) multi-source/all-source Intelligence Specialist (Document and Media Exploitation (DOMEX)/Digital Forensic Examiner(DFE)) and will be responsible for performing a range of substantive forensic exploitation, operations, and conducting DOMEX derived link analysis.

Typical work assignments include: 

* Supporting mobile forensic efforts through examination of electronic devices found in the maritime environment and be able to develop new forensic methods to support Coast Guard operations/investigations.
* Analyzing and reporting on substantive findings from DOMEX, including counter-forensic methods.
* Converting recovered data into meaningful intelligence/investigative data through analysis, collation and correlation, synthesis, and specific identification.
* Executing tasking from District Intelligence to identify promising technologies for forensics analysis and performing developmental studies that advance the body of knowledge in the hardware/software forensic engineering field.
* Supporting the testing of forensic hardware/software, Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) and Government off the Shelf (GOTS) forensic and application software.
* Researching applicability of new technological developments in the forensic field to solve continuing problems and to meet future needs of the Coast Guard DOMEX program.
* Representing the Coast Guard at law enforcement/intelligence community forensics operational, training events, conferences, forums, working groups and discussions.
* Mentoring and demonstrating technical tools, applications and methodologies in support of Coast Guard DOMEX training and partnership engagement.

 This position has been identified as a drug testing designated position (TDP) for purposes of the DHS Drug Free Workplace program. All applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit to a drug test to screen for illegal drug use prior to receiving a final offer of employment. A final offer of employment is contingent upon a negative drug test result.

You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level performing duties such as:

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples include: Specialized experience includes: Conducting DOMEX exploitation; conducting human intelligence or law enforcement intelligence operations; conducting intergovernmental operations and liaison activities; writing intelligence collection reports and analysis; researching and analyzing intelligence topics; briefing intelligence topics in a public setting; performing digital forensic analysis of DOMEX derived data; semi-autonomous work as an intelligence officer, law enforcement investigator, or special agent.

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
