Duties

Help
  • You will apply basic intelligence procedures, processes, and methods to evaluate and make preliminary analysis of intelligence data.
  • You will assist higher-grade specialists in searching, selecting, and compiling intelligence data in preparation of reports for various types of customers.
  • You will learn to identify obvious intelligence gaps and how to draw conclusions based on analysis.
  • You will assist in operating and maintaining intelligence-related databases, equipment, and software.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • Must be accepted for enrollment or enrolled in school.

ELIGIBILITY:

To be eligible for the GG-05, you must meet the following required education level: Completion of 4 academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree.

All educational requirements for this position must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

Education

QUALIFYING EDUCATION:

1) A high school whose curriculum has been approved by a State or local governing body, or a home-school curriculum that has been approved by such body or state.

AND

2) Any of the following educational institutions or curricula that have been accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the secretary of the U.S. Department of Education:

(i) A 2-year or 4-year college or university;

(ii) A graduate or professional school (e.g., law school, medical school)

(iii) A graduate or professional school (e.g., law school, medical school)

(iv) A home-school curriculum

Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the qualification requirements, if the applicant can provide documentation indicating that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States. Additional information

Eligible candidates will be required to possess a Bachelor's Degree along with acceptance of enrollment or enrolled at least half-time in an accredited college, professional, technical, vocational, or trade school pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate.

Students will typically work a full-time schedule (40 hours per week) and will have to commit to working a 160-320 hours during the summer months.

You may be non-competitively converted to a permanent, indefinite, term or temporary position upon graduation and completion of the Student Program.


All Defense Intelligence positions under the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) are in the excepted service by specific statute, 10 U.S.C. 1601.

This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.
