Duties

Help
  • Assist in providing technical expertise, program management, training and quality control for ACEP.
  • Assist in analyzing workloads and establishing goals commensurate with needs and available resources.
  • Assist in developing guidance based on the statute that authorized and funded the program and from NRCS policy.
  • Works with state public affairs staff in coordinating and developing media packages, news releases, promotional material, web information, and outreach efforts.
  • Assist field offices and state Easement Program Coordinator in the development and management of WRE restoration contracts

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.

Basic Education Requirement:
Degree:biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. ; OR
Combination of Education and Experience:Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Note: For a degree in a related discipline to be acceptable for consideration, it must include 24 semester hours in subject areas described above.

In addition to meeting one of the Basic Requirements listed above, applicants must meet the following Minimum Qualifications Requirement in order to be considered:

Specialized Experience: To qualify for the GS-09 level, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level or higher in Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service.
This experience must include experience that has equipped you with the necessary competencies to successfully perform the duties of this position. For this position specialized experience is defined as providing technical guidance, assistance, and evaluation to easement management plans.

Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience

Possess two years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a masters degree or masters or equivalent graduate degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of graduate-level education and experience, as described above, may be used to qualify for this position. This combination must have equipped you with the necessary knowledge and/or experience to successfully perform the duties of this position. Combinations of experience and education must total at least 100% as outlined in OPM Qualifications policy.

Specialized Experience: To qualify for the GS-11 level, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level or higher in Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include:
  • Provide technical guidance and assistance directly to individuals, emphasizing conservation programs on croplands, naturalized areas, range and pasture land uses.
  • Provide guidance on conservation programs, conservation methods and techniques to maintain or improve production while conserving soil and water resources.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with members of diverse groups internally and externally, including federal and state agency staff.;
  • Assist in coordinating outreach of agency programs and services to customers. OR
Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience for the GS-11 level: 3 year(s) of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or Ph.D. equivalent doctoral degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position; OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of graduate-level education and experience, as described above, may be used to qualify for this position. This combination must have equipped you with the necessary knowledge and/or experience to successfully perform the duties of this position.   • Physical Demands: Incumbent will perform a combination of both office work and field work. Field work may involve exposure to moderate risks and discomforts, such as those due to adverse weather conditions such as wind, bright sun, hot and cold temperatures, rain and possibly snow. Work will likely take place in wetland environments that require the use of rubber boots or hip waders. Exposure is likely to insect bites, irritating or poisonous plants and wildlife. Work may require frequent lifting of moderately heavy items such as equipment that weighs less than 50 pounds. Occasionally, during field investigations, the work is physically demanding and requires long periods of standing and walking over rough, muddy, uneven, or swampy terrain.
  • Work Environment: The work is performed in both an office and field environment. Field visits are made to project locations to meet the clients and inventory and evaluate various land resources. Adverse weather and unimproved roads are often during field visits and may require the use of special protective equipment. Office work is performed in an office setting and includes the use of computer for extended periods of time.

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
