Duties

Help
  • Performs all facets of general dentistry on patients of all ages.
  • Manages significantly medically-compromised patients, consulting with physicians and specialists as necessary.
  • Performs thorough documentation in both medical and dental electronic health records.
  • Keeps abreast of most recent evidence-based standards of care by attending in-person courses annually and completing online trainings and webinars.
  • Evaluates dental assistants' performance and gives real-time feedback; performs competencies and performance evaluations.

Qualifications

We are looking for the following specialties: Dental Public Health, Endodontics, General Practice, Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Pediatric Dentistry, Periodontics, Prosthodontics, Research, Other Specialty or No Specialty and/or Specialty not listed above.

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position:

GS-13: Your resume must also demonstrate you have successfully completed a 3-year residency program in dentistry, oral health, craniofacial sciences, or a related medical science, or equivalent experience and/or training. AND have successfully completed one year of full-time experience in professional dentistry work that is equivalent to the next lower grade level or pay band (GS-12). This training and/or experience should include experience restorative, pediatric, periodontic, endodontic, prosthodontic, diagnostic, surgical, and/or preventative dental services. Perform oral surgeries, such as extraction of impacted teeth or full mouth extraction. Perform prosthodontic cases, including crown/bridges, complete dentures, and relines. Perform routine pedodontic procedures, as well as treating cases of rampant caries in children. Perform case management and treatment of medically complex cases and obtain medical clearances to provide comprehensive dental care.

GS-14: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13, diagnosing and treating unusual dental problems; Experience providing dental therapeutics for the management of infection, pain, neuromuscular disorders, and apprehension; Experience conducting comprehensive emergency care and treatment planning; Experience treating and managing facial trauma including fixation of closed jaw fractures and identifying and referring more complicated damage.

GS-15: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14, treating and managing facial trauma including fixation of closed jaw fractures and identifying and treating complicated damage; providing oral and radiographic examinations of the oral cavity, diagnosing pathological or irregular oral conditions, administering local anesthesia and performing complex restoration of teeth.
