This position is located in the Joint Force Headquarters, Personnel Services Branch at Camp Mabry in Austin, TX. The purpose of the position is to manage the day to day operations of the Casualty Assistance Program within an assigned state.
Summary
This position is located in the Joint Force Headquarters, Personnel Services Branch at Camp Mabry in Austin, TX. The purpose of the position is to manage the day to day operations of the Casualty Assistance Program within an assigned state.
Provides administrative support to states that occur casualties while soldiers are in a duty and non duty status.
Receives notification of all death's and/or casualties such as: the death or believed to be death, serious or very serious illness or injury, or special category; of a soldier in a duty and non-duty status.
Receives notification of death of veterans with requests for burial honors and forwards the request to appropriate state Military Funeral Honors personnel.
Works with the Casualty Assistance Officer and the Survivor Outreach Services personnel to ensure that all of the surviving family members needs are addressed and taken care of.
Briefs personnel on the most current procedures for casualty notification, NOK assistance and burial honors.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Composes correspondence that requires reference to regulations, related correspondence manuals, etc.

Appointment Factor(s): This is a Title 32 Excepted Service position that requires active membership in a compatible military assignment in the Texas Army National Guard and wear of the military uniform.

This is a Non-Bargaining Unit Position.

May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
Military Requirements
Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. Applicant must be Duty MOS/AOC/Branch assigned to a compatible position in accordance with statutes and National Guard Bureau regulations upon selection. If selected and not currently Duty MOS/AOC/Branch assigned, entrance on duty date will be delayed until assignment in the appropriate Duty MOS/AOC/Branch is verified.
Need not have MOS to apply. Upon selection, individuals must be assigned to a compatible military duty position in accordance with statutes and National Guard Bureau regulations and must obtain/maintain all requirements of the MOS within one year of appointment.

Specialized Experience:
At least 24 months experience, education or training in any position that required compiling reports, letters, memoranda, etc., and required person-to-person contacts to convey information. Applicants must have experience providing technical guidance and assistance in the type of work or in comparable work of the position to be filled. Applicants must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of administrative procedures and practices of management. Experience developing administrative procedures.
Education
Substitution of Education for the Specialized Experience - Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree, in an accredited college or university, meets the GS-5 level requirements.
