Duties

Help
  • Manages and administers the Safety and Occupational Health (S and OH) program.
  • Formulates District policies and provides program direction by issuing regulation, standards and technical guidance.
  • Manages surveys, evaluations, studies, audits, and accident investigation/reporting.
  • Advises the Commander and staff on safety and occupational health matters. Serves as the District technical authority on S and OH.

  • Incumbent is required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, SF-450, uponentering the position and annually, in accordance with DoD Directive 5500.7-R, Joint Ethics Regulation, dated 30 August 1993.
  • Required to travel approximately 33% of the time.
  • Required to have a valid state's drivers license at all times of employment.
  • A Secret security clearance is required or must be possessed.
  • Position is subject to medical/safety/surveillance program. and Position is subject to random drug testing per AR 600-85.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing a safety and occupational health program which requires the planning, organizing, and evaluation of a program with diverse but recognized hazards in areas such as construction and engineering environments; achieving compliance with regulatory provisions and effectively communicating multiple safety and occupational health practices and procedures to staff and line personnel.
. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).

  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
