About the Position: The Alaska District is seeking to fill a Program Manager position (Deputy Division Chief) located in the Programs and Project Manager Division. An ideal candidate will have strong experience in Program and Project Management. Possess an in depth knowledge of all USACE Programs, to include excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills and be detail-orientated. Experience working with a team in a fast-paced dynamic environment.

Help
  • Serves as the Deputy for the Programs and Project Management Division (PPMD) and as the Chief of the Management Support Branch.
  • Exercises administrative and technical supervision of teams within the branch to include work assignments, advice and instructions pertaining to technical aspects of the work, and coordinates the mission of the subordinates with functional elements.
  • Responsible and accountable for delivery of projects, authoritative interpretation of directives and policies, and the allocation of funds to accomplish planning, design, and construction in accordance with agreed upon budgets and schedules.
  • Attends conferences with representatives of higher echelons, other Federal agencies, using services, and local interests.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This is a critical acquisition position (CAP) which requires Senior Level III certification in the acquisition career field of Facilities Engineering.
  • Selectees must sign an Army Acquisition Corps (AAC) written tenure agreement to remain in the Federal service in this position for at least three (3) years.
  • This is a designated Key position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.


Specialized Experience Required: Qualified Candidates for this position must identify in their resume that they possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level/pay band (GS-13) in the federal service that demonstrates the following: Managing or personally performing professional, scientific, technical, and/or administrative work in support of program or project operations in such areas engineering, planning, design, military/civil works, construction projects and budget formulation.

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job there is no education substitution for experience, you must qualify based on specialized experience.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
