Help

As a Social Science Analyst GS 0101 15, your typical work assignments may include:

  • Designing methodologies to assess the current state of program evaluation in DHS Headquarters Offices and Components.
  • Serving as the technical expert regarding program evaluation methods and design, including survey design, quantitative and qualitative research, and statistical sampling and analysis.
  • Providing management with information needed to make decisions by examining organizational systems and programs as well as proposing alternatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of programs

Qualifications

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Basic AND Minimum Qualification requirements as noted below.

Basic Requirement: You must meet one of the items listed below (A, B, or C):

A. Possess a degree in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. (Must provide transcripts)

B. Possess a combination of education and experience -- that provided you with the knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. (Must provide transcript)

C. Possess four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

AND;

Specialized Experience: GS-15 (starting salary $142,701): The applicant must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-14 level in the Federal service that included:

  • Applying new hypotheses, methodologies, and concepts to plan, conduct, and evaluate short- and long-range projects.
  • Designing and conducting program evaluation studies for applied settings including considerations of the appropriate type of evaluation, statistical sampling methodology, and data analysis plan.
  • Conducting statistical analyses with data sets using a variety of parametric and non-parametric statistical tools.
In addition to the minimum qualifications described above, you must meet the following requirement(s) to be considered qualified for the position:
  • Experience designing and conducting program evaluation studies for applied settings including considerations of the appropriate type of evaluation, statistical sampling methodology, and data analysis plan.
  • Experience in conducting statistical analyses with data sets using a variety of parametric and non-parametric statistical tools.
  • Ability to synthesize complex methodological and statistical analyses into straightforward results reporting for non-technical audience.
