Duties

Help
  • Operates, maintains, overhauls, installs, repairs, and adjust all electrical components of utility generation and distribution equipment with the drydocks and shipyard environment and temporary service systems and components.
  • Operates drydock flooding and dewatering equipment.
  • Performs maintenance inspection to determine condition of electricity utility systems components within the drydocks.
  • Operates power generators.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • Must work from ladders and platforms; work in awkward and uncomfortable positions, and enter access areas in 18 inches in diameters
  • This position requires incumbent to provide basic hand tools applicable to the trade.
  • May be assigned to rotating or standard shift work.

Qualifications

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of a HIGH VOLTAGE ELECTRICIAN, without more than normal supervision such as:

Researched and executed electrical theories and principles.

Troubleshooted and repaired of high voltage generating, controlling, and distribution systems, repairing switch gear, installing and hooking up transformers, locating defects in cables, or selecting material to make installation or repairs.

Spliced wire/cables by removing insulation, scraping clean, twisting together and smoldering, or connecting conductors with mechanical connectors, and splicing clamps and tape.

Performed mathematical caculations used in electrical formula.
