U.S. Citizens. Area 1 - Open to current, permanent technicians of the Michigan National Guard. Area 2 - Open to current members of the Michigan National Guard.
This position is located in the United States Property & Fiscal Office (USPFO) Supply & Services Division, Ammunition Supply Point (ASP). This is an Army National Guard (ARNG) Dual Status Technician position requiring military membership, compatible military skill assignment, and classification. The primary purpose of this position is to perform the handling, storage, examining, transporting, and identifying of ammunition and explosives to detect defects, serviceability, deterioration, and compliance with all ammunition and explosives regulations, acceptable standards, specifications, or contractual requirements, as well as policy and procedures.
1. Performs Ammunition Inspections pertaining to the receipt, classification, storage, issue and shipment of ammunition items.
2. Conducts inspection of ammunition being turned-in to determine suitability for further training needs.
3. Prepares items for shipment to other depots and/or installations.
4. Verification Inspection. Performs a variety of routine and special inspections of conventional ammunition.
5. Demilitarization Inspections.
6. Transportation Related Inspections.
7. Propellant Inspections. Inspects propellant charge containers and bulk propellants in storage.

This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to use and maintain tools and equipment associated with the type of work to be done, and to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Experience which demonstrates the knowledge of and the ability to apply safety standards.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience or training handling and the ability to learn how to destroy explosives and toxic materials; follow safety procedures in the handling of ammunition, explosives and toxic materials. Experience which demonstrates the ability to use radial monitoring instruments, photographs, chemical analyses and x-ray equipment.
