Summary

This position serves as a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist in the Diagnostic Imaging Department of the Pine Ridge Indian Hospital for the purpose of performing computerized axial tomographic scanning of heads and/or bodies. This position also serves as an X-ray Technologist. Incumbent may be required to work alternate duty shifts (Days/Nights/Evenings/Weekend/Holidays) and/or on-call duty.

Help

Performs a variety of routine to complex examinations to assist the Medical Staff in the proper diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Monitors all radiographs taken in the department to assure high quality.
Maintains records of all functions of this department and keeps documentation on file as required by Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).
Performs a variety of computerized tomography examinations according to physician instructions.

This is a designated position covered by Public Law 101-630, requiring contact or control over Indian children. Upon tentative selection, selectee will be requested to complete, sign, and submit the Addendum to OF-306, Child Care & Indian Child Care Worker Position form. Due to this requirement, the agency must ensure that persons hired for these positions have not been found guilty of or pleaded nolo contendere or guilty to certain crimes.

Measles and Rubella immunization required for selectees born after 1957. Seasonal Influenza immunization is required for civilian health care facility staff working in Indian Health Service health care facilities.

The selected individual is required to obtain and maintain any licensure requirements. If privileges are not obtained or maintained during employment, the employee will be subject to adverse actions, up to and including removal from Federal service.

On-call hours or standby duty may be required.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below-

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Perform computerized axial tomographic scanning of heads and/or bodies; confer with radiologist to establish requirements of standard examinations and determines technical factors, positioning, number and thickness cut of scans, etc., to satisfy requirement; advises radiologist or referring physical of results of examination, provide preliminary diagnostic evaluation, notifies radiologist or referring physician of significant scans requiring their immediate attention and visualization while patient is undergoing examination; Prepares contrast material under the direction of radiologic for purpose of performing procedure/exams requiring injectable solutions such as IVP, cystograms, cholangiograms, fistulagrams, arthrograms and myelograms.

Selective Placement Factor: Must possess certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Computed Tomography.

Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. IHS may offer newly-appointed Federal employees credit for their directly related previous non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave is earned.

This position is covered by a Bargaining Unit.

Recruitment or relocation incentives may be authorized. At least a 6 month service agreement will be required.
