Duties

Help
  • Operate a variety of diesel powered equipment.
  • Assign work to subordinate employees.
  • Ensure needed plans, materials and tools are available.
  • Interpret work instructions and assist subordinates with difficult or complex tasks.
  • Check work in progress for compliance with instructions and standards.
  • Pass on instructions to demonstrate proper work methods.
  • Ensure safety standards are being met in compliance with regulations.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do Lead or Supervise. To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following: Plan the use of equipment and materials; enforce deadlines and priorities; answer questions and provide technical guidance; assure safety and housekeeping rules are followed; operate motor vehicles; issue, receive and account for equipment. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort: Performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas that require the worker to stand, stoop, bend, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May be required to work at a rapid pace for long periods of time. Moderate physical effort is used in operating hand and foot controls when driving, turning, stopping and starting the forklifts and motor vehicles and in raising, lowering and tilting the forklift loads. Frequently lifts and carries supplies, material and equipment weighing up to 40 Pounds.

Working Conditions: Subject to working out-of-doors during periods of inclement weather. Exposed to serious injuries while operating vehicles over public roads and on the installation. Works on concrete floors and in drafty areas. May be exposed to fumes, fluids, dirt, battery acids, etc., resulting in bruises, cuts, burns, and skin irritation. Wearing of hearing protection and other safety equipment is required during all periods of exposure to hazardous conditions.
