Duties

Help

As a Supervisory Archives Specialist, you will:

  • Plan and direct the accessioning, arranging, segregating, storing; maintaining, and preserving of records for historical, legal, fiscal, administrative, or other value in accordance with existing schedules or recommending changes to schedules.
  • Direct the conversion of the Center's current holdings to ARCIS control. Ensure the determination and assignment of appropriate records group numbers, in many cases to groups of records for which determination has never been made.
  • Have overall responsibility for planning, directing, and coordinating the records disposal program at NPRC. Review records disposal program to ensure adherence to directives, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Advise and furnish technical assistance to program officials of Federal and quasi-governmental agencies at headquarters and subordinate levels worldwide, as well as to private contractors. On a continuing basis, advise on authorized filing and classification systems; procedure to establish and improve records maintenance and storage systems; and preparation of descriptive control documentation for records including schedules, transfer documents, and destruction certificates.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Specialized experience for the GS-11 is defined as one year of experience at the GS-09 level, or equivalent, that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes records life-cycle monitoring and communicating with external customers regarding the retrieval of records. Examples of this may include:

- Analyzing records storage methods to preserve records; OR
- Reviewing transfer documentation for accuracy

OR

EDUCATION: You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to such a degree, or LL.M., If related.

OR

COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: You may qualify on a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 36 semester hours (54 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.
