Summary

Interns receive exposure to international project finance by working with seasoned financiers in the loan origination process. The loan life cycle includes underwriting, due diligence and Know Your Customer review, an approval process with papers written for the purpose of obtaining approval from Credit Policy, Investment Committee and the Board of Directors (if applicable), loan agreement negotiations and disbursement. After disbursement, a project is transferred to a monitoring group.

Help

SRI Finance is a specialty group offering customized finance, fund and insurance products engaging socially responsible investors in the impact sectors which include agriculture, access to finance and housing for the underserved, education, healthcare, information, communications/technology (ICT), renewable energy, water and sanitation. It provides direct and indirect support for projects through direct origination of financing or insurance support or linkages created or assisted by DFC through consultation, education and outreach. By providing debt financing to for- and not-for-profit entities, big and small, DFC helps to jump start or expand endeavors working alongside philanthropic investors in blended finance transactions. Increasing access to capital helps to move projects to scale thereby empowering people in developing countries to build better futures.

  • Must be currently enrolled or have been accepted for enrollment (at least part-time) in an accredited college or university
  • Must be suitable for Federal employment, determined by background investigation
  • Selective Service registration required for male applicants, unless exempt

Qualifications

Applicants must be U.S. citizens enrolled at least part-time in an accredited college or university in a relevant undergraduate graduate degree program with a minimum of 60 credits. The ideal candidate should have a undergraduate or graduate level academic concentration in business, international development, economics, or finance.
