Duties

Help

As a Budget Analyst, you will:

- Serve as a technical authority on matters of budget formulation and execution. 

- Develop long-range (3-5 year) budget plans for upcoming fiscal years.

- Prepare budget materials required to formulate, justify, and present OIG’s annual President’s Budget submission, to include narrative justifications, budget exhibits, and briefings.

- Provide guidance and recommendations on all aspects of assigned budgets to office managers, budget liaisons, and administrative staff.

- Prepare written directives, guidance, procedures, briefing papers, and correspondence on a broad range of topics related to assigned duties and responsibilities.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30  days of the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience:  For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience at this level is defined as experience with policies, precedents, goals, objectives, regulations, and guidelines of budget formulation and execution. Examples of such experience could include:
Using financial management systems, spreadsheets, and/or other tools and databases to formulate a budget and improve program effectiveness and efficiency. OR
Analyzing and interpreting budget and accounting data to identify and resolve financial and/or budget issues and anomalies. OR
Preparing and defending budget justifications/narratives, exhibits, and spend plans to senior managers. OR
Interpreting and applying financial and budget policies, regulations, and guidelines to daily tasks and assignments.

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-14, you must have been at the GS-13level for 52 weeks.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation.
