Duties

Help
  • Performs work planning and establishes weekly, monthly, yearly and longer maintenance and inspection schedules based on maintenance orders assigned
  • Assigns and explains work requirements and operating instructions to subordinates and sets deadlines and establishes the sequence of work operations to be followed.
  • Assures that subordinates effectively carry out policies to achieve management and work objectives. Develops performance standards, counsel employees on performance, and makes formal and informal performance appraisals.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent may be required to work rotating shifts and/or irregular tour of duty.
  • Incumbent is required to operate a motor vehicle that requires a Class "A" Commercial Driver?s License (CDL) with HAZMAT endorsement. If required to obtain the CDL, incumbent must obtain and maintain a CDL within 90 days of employment).
  • If CDL is required for the position, incumbent will be placed in the Drug Testing Pool and will be required to complete DA Form 7412.
  • Completion of a pre-employment physical is required.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Maintenance Supervisor without more than normal supervision. which includes passing on to workers the instructions received from higher levels of supervision and getting work started; demonstrating proper work methods; answering questions from workers regarding work processes and procedures; knowledge of heavy equipment operation; working knowledge of electronic/electrical equipment repair techniques - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading)
  • Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.
  • Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
  • Use of Measuring Instruments
  • Physical Effort: Work requires frequent walking, standing, climbing, bending, stooping, reaching, crawling, driving, prolonged use of construction and material handling equipment and tools, and carrying or lifting of heavy objects up to 50 pounds routinely and occasionally up to 100 lbs.
  • Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside, with exposure to bad weather and the usual climate extremes. There are the common dangers inherent to power tool operations such as: cuts and bruises, electrical shock, fumes and burns, and the danger of working around mobile equipment. Must wear appropriate safety and protective gear such as hard hat, safety goggles, earplugs, respirator etc. as required. Work may require use of elevated platforms in excess of fifty feet, boom trucks and man lifts.
