This position is with the BLM Arizona State Office, Phoenix District Office, located in Phoenix, Arizona, performing duties in support of the Lower Sonoran Field Office. Information about Location and the Location area can be found at Phoenix, AZ.
Duties: At this level, the incumbent provides technical support and assistance in range conservation, range management, and range improvement.
The duties will include but are not limited to: -Ensures all stipulation in grazing permits and leases under area of responsibility are complied with. -Confers with permittees/lessees on general inquiries such as project maintenance and conditions. -Assists in preparation of grazing lease/permits and in other range administration matters. -Prepares billing documents, prepares range transfers documents. -Trains and monitors crews carrying out duties. -Conducts range studies (i.e., condition and trend, utilization, actual use, climatological, etc.). -Coordinates with wildlife biologists and participates in identifying areas of wildlife use, needs and unique situations. -Plans/conducts range use supervision and allotment inspections.
Physical Demands: The work ranges from sedentary when completing duties in the office to frequent field work requiring a considerable amount of walking, riding, stooping, bending, and lifting.
Work Environment: Office work is performed in adequately lighted, heated, and air conditioned offices. Much of the time is spent in the field where exposure to extremes of heat and cold, rough terrain, insects, snakes, and other hazards are common. The employee will carefully adhere to all safety procedures to mitigate hazards encountered.

This position requires one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade or appropriate education, or a combination of education and specialized experience.
Qualifications
Specialized Experience Requirements: In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement - please be sure to include this information in your resume. To be creditable, you must have one year of experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade (GS-06 for the GS-07) of the position to be filled.
To qualify for the GS-07 level: Applicants must possess at least 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-6 level. Examples of specialized experience includes: Assisting in the monitoring and/or management of public range resources of a specified area by observing, monitoring and reporting special conditions or making recommendations regarding your observations; or conducting range use inspections, determining compliance with allotment plans, investigating or researching rangeland trespass violations or performing the detailed work (including monitoring that requires plant identification and soils classification skills) necessary to complete specific rangeland monitoring or plans for development of an area for proper range management, conservation, and weed prevention; OR
Successful completion of one full year of graduate level education in a field related to range work such as a major study in forestry, range management, agriculture or a field directly related to this position that has equipped me with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of this position; OR
A combination of experience and education to meet the total experience. For example, 6 months of specialized experience as defined in the vacancy announcement and 9 semester hours of appropriate graduate study in the areas described above.
