The Foundations of Strategy is one of the Air War College's primary core courses, introducing students to key strategic concepts, foundational readings and analytical frameworks that contribute to critically analyzing how strategies have been developed, implemented, and adjusted at the national and theater levels.

The course uses historical and contemporary case studies to analyze and evaluate how strategy is developed, implemented and adjusted, thereby helping to develop in our students the knowledge and skills necessary to develop and shape military strategies which, in concert with other instruments of national power, achieve national security strategic objectives.
