Duties

Help
  • Repair components on air conditioning equipment such as compressors and pumps by dismantling and reassembling.
  • Read and interpret refrigerant tables to check proper systems operation.
  • Use vacuum pumps, recovery units, manifolds gauges, and dial-a-charges to charge and/or transfer refrigerants in refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
  • Troubleshooting electric/electronic subassemblies of air conditioning and refrigeration system (i.e. power supplies, motors, and monitoring and control components) to isolate faults.

  • This position require Incumbent to be subject to "Call Back" overtime work and pre-planned overtime work.
  • This position requires Incumbent to participate in Temporary Duty Travel (TDY).
  • This position requires the incumbent to possess and maintain Universal Certification in accordance with section 608 CAA 1994, as required by 40 CFR Part 82, Subpart F. Certification must be uploaded at time of application.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic (MVO)~ without more than normal supervision. I am able to perform the common duties/tasks associated with the position as an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic: assisting with the installation of commercial and/or industrial air conditioning and refrigeration equipment. Performing routine tasks associated with the maintenance and limited repairs of industrial and/or commercial refrigeration and air conditioning units and equipment. Detecting leaks on equipment and making electrical connections; working with refrigerant in accordance with EPA standards.

  • Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision
  • Incumbents regularly stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time. Constant kneeling, crouching, bending, stooping and walking are required. Works in tiring and uncomfortable positions, and in close quarters. Frequently lift and move equipment, components, or material weighing up to 40 pounds. Heavier items are lifted with weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. Incumbent may climb in, on, and under vehicles and other large mechanized equipment.
  • Work is performed inside or outside in areas that may be hot, camp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted. Incumbent is exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions, falls, and injury from falling stock or mechanized work areas. May be subject to exposure of hazardous material. May require wearing protective clothing such as hardhats, hard hats, gloves, masks, etc. Steel toed shoes are always required.
