Duties

Help
  • Research the developments in operations research, systems analysis, and combat developments, with particular emphasis on areas relevant to SMD CoE missions of Space, Missile Defense and High Altitude
  • Prepares and defines technical details for budget and work program estimates for analytical efforts.
  • Develop study projects and proposals to identify questions to be answered, essential elements for analysis, alternatives to be considered and analytical techniques to be employed to achieve solutions.
  • Serve as the team lead of civilian, military and contractor Operations Research Analysts and other professional and technical personnel in conducting complete analytical studies.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position requires you to submit a Financial Disclosure Report (OGE-450) upon entry, and annually thereafter.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • This is an Army Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics Workforce position. Incumbent must be able to meet position requirements for certification at Level III in Acquisition Career Field Business-Cost Estimating within 24 months of entrance on duty.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment Drug Test screening, and random testing.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Operations Research Analyst: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in operations research; or a bachelor's degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) and Specialized Experience: In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work of this job. Specialized experience is defined as: research in defining problems, formulating concepts, establishing objectives, formulating methodologies, developing and applying new novel research approaches; analyses in producing insightful findings, alternative course of action, solutions to critical problems, which have significant impact in changing or improving practical and theoretical combat developments organizations.

Education
