Duties

Help

As a Budget Analyst, you will:

  • Execute and formulate the OIG's appropriated budgets.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert of OIG's budget oversight team and addresses highly complex, unusual and/or sensitive matters of budget execution and budget formulation with responsibility for the total budgetary resources for OIG, including assuring OIG compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Ensure that OIG operates without any violations from budgetary laws, regulations and policies, such as anti-deficiency act violations.
  • Prepare complex to very complex analyses and estimates of annual funding needs for one or more future fiscal years.
  • Maintain a prominent role in the development of the annual budget operating plan for OIG in accordance with funding priorities, policies, and allotment decisions established by the Inspector General (IG) for the fiscal year.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience:  For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:  

  • Experience using the policies, precedents, goals, objectives, regulations, and guidelines of budget execution. Examples of such experience could include

Using financial management systems, spreadsheets, and/or other tools and databases to analyze and interpret financial and/or budget data.
Preparing budget and/or accounting reports for management.
Identifying financial and/or budget issues and anomalies and providing recommendations for resolution.
Applying financial policies, regulations, and guidelines to daily tasks and assignments.

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12 level for 52 weeks.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation.
- Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.

- File a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report within 30 days of appointment and annually from then on.
