Duties

Help
  • Manages administrative functions.
  • Monitors administration of the Division security program.
  • Performs administrative/management assistant duties.
  • Uses multiple office automation software with varied functions to produce a wide range of documents that often require complex formats, such as graphics or tables within text, editing and reformatting electronic drafts.
  • Updates or revising existing databases or spreadsheets.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience which is equivalent to Federal experience at the next lower grade (GS-06) level or equivalent (grade level, pay schedule, pay band, etc) and is described in detail in my resume. An example of creditable specialized experience includes: Knowledge of and ability to apply management and/or program analysis technical rules, guidelines, instructions, ad precedents and data gathering methods to a wide range of situations in evaluating administrative operations, performing duties such as planning the steps to take to complete assignments, identifying problems from collected data and selecting solutions from alternatives in guidelines.*Note: In-service applicants can qualify with at least 1 year of specialized experience at either the next lower level (GS-06) or the second lower level (GS-05). However, for outside applicants (i.e., those without current or prior Federal competitive or excepted service), 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower level is required.

EDUCATION:
Successfully completed one year of graduate level education in a field directly related which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Law and Legal Studies. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts

OR
COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of official transcripts.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-­grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:1. Knowledge of extensive rules, procedures, or operations applied to administrative assignments to perform the procedural and administrative work of the office.
2. Ability to plan, organizes, and meets deadlines of work.
3. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs.
4. Skill in typing; a qualified typist is required.
5. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
6. Knowledge of security regulations and policies to effectively plan, organize, and coordinate security programs and requirements, and the knowledge of various civilian personnel management programs (awards, performance appraisals, hiring actions, promotions, leave processing, etc) and applicable regulations to advise on administrative and procedural requirements.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
