Duties

Help
  • Provide technical advice on scientific studies/surveys or projects to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in the establishment of guidelines, policies, and the development of recommendations for studies and analyses.
  • Plan, develop, evaluate and manage the overall scientific and technical management of the research program.

  • Supervisory position: Yes, since this is a supervisory position, candidates must also have demonstrated or shown the potential to develop the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities. A supervisory probationary period may be required. Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: A degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
-OR-
A combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: In addition to meeting the basic requirements above, Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS- 14 grade level in the Federal service as defined below:

Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position, to include experience making technical and administrative decisions in the coordination of an occupational health and safety program related to research evaluation and development, budget planning, and scientific program analysis.

Research Position: An evaluation of the scientific contributions, recognition and professional standing of the researcher as they relate to the position being filled will be made to determine qualifications. Candidates should include all pertinent information regarding their research accomplishments, e.g. List of publications and presentations.

Education

Education completed in colleges or universities outside the United States may be used to meet the education requirements.
