Summary

This position is located in the United States Department of the Treasury, Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA), within the Office of Information Technology (OIT). The incumbent serves as an Assistant Director for the Service Desk and is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and managing TIGTA’s Service Desk operations including the responsibilities of directing and monitoring the activities of subordinate positions within the Service Desk group.

As a Supervisory IT Specialist, you will:

- Ensure high quality IT end user services by implementing and maintaining Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) best practices.

- Supervise the work of Section employees within the Service Desk, serving as a project manager for a variety of information technology and other related projects.

- Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates within the Section, setting and adjusting short-term priorities and deadlines for work completion.

- Assign work to subordinates based on the nature of the work to be performed, priorities, selective consideration of task difficulty and the capabilities of employees.

- Make decisions upon, and give advice and counsel to employees regarding work and administrative matters to include those issues presented by employees themselves.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience: For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: [provide specialized experience]

- Managing projects in the conception, design and development of integrated computer hardware and software information systems. AND
-
Providing advice and recommendations to resolve integration issues related to the implementation of new systems. AND
-
Managing the planning and delivery of customer support programs that provide the full range of IT services to end-users of IT hardware and software throughout the organization.

In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in 1) attention to detail, 2) customer service, 3) oral communication, and 4) problem solving.

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-14 you must have been at the GS-13 level for 52 weeks.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation.
