Duties

Help
  • Advises and assists employees, managers and supervisors on grievance procedures and appropriate options for proper resolution of conflicts or problems.
  • Develops appropriate interventions for management on significant Human Resources issues.
  • Works with other HRM functional areas to resolve Employee Relations issues that involve cross functional HR issues.
  • Ensures case assessments include all relevant facts, relevant case law or similar offenses, concerns of the case and a recommendation.
  • Conducts studies and coordinates projects that involve analyzing and recommending changes to the structure of Employee Relations work.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level.

Specialized experience is defined as experience providing advisory services regarding appropriate disciplinary and other corrective techniques that were responsive to a wide range of conduct based and performance problems. Participating in the development or revision of employee relations policies, regulations, and guidelines. Preparing case assessments, analyzing information, documenting findings, and developing a case strategy. Researching substantive decisions and Interpreting personnel policy, case law, and regulations to ensure the appropriateness of penalties and regulatory compliance for adverse/disciplinary actions. Conducting management inquiries or misconduct investigations, and providing comprehensive reports of investigation.
