Summary

This position is located in the Office of the Director (OD), Office of International Science and Engineering (OISE). This position will serve as a Project Coordinator in the Country and Regions cluster and will be responsible for the MULTIPLIER (MULTlPlying Impact Leveraging International Expertise in Research) program. The MULTIPLIER program is the primary mechanism by which the NSF identifies, assesses, and seizes opportunities for international science cooperation.

Duties

Help

The Project Coordinator for MULTlPLIERs will be responsible for performing the following major duties and responsibilities:

  • Planning of complex international trips that could be diplomatically sensitive
  • Establishing and maintain relationships within the Office, within the agency, and with counterparts in foreign countries to ensure successful expeditions.
  • Serving as a technical expert and leading in the planning, developing, coordinating, organizing, implementing, communicating, and tracking project plans and procedures and timetables including recommending changes in policy and management activities for MULTIPLIER expeditions
  • Performing analysis: Collects pertinent data and narrative information from a variety of sources within and outside NSF.  Applies various analytical techniques for data management in order to identify patterns and trends.  Develops tracking and reporting systems to monitor activities to ensure that activities meet established guidelines and schedules
  • Planning the logistics for international trips.  Such activities include, but are not be limited to, developing the schedule for the expedition, identifying travel modalities to complete the expedition, requirements for travel and communicating this information effectively.
  • Working with the lead OISE desk officer for the trip, ensures the timely drafting and publication of MULTIPLIER reports
  • Performing the most complex aspects of management studies to evaluate and measure the progress and success of projects assigned to identify and recommend ways to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of cross office programs and activities
  • Preparing or developing remarks and briefing materials for Office, Directorate and Foundation leadership related to MUTLIPLIER with oversight from Office management
  • Ensuring both written and oral work products conform to current NSF style and substance guides, are tailored to the needs articulated by either a Principal or a person within the candidate's chain of command.  Products are free of grammatical and substantive defect
  • Participating in special studies concerning issues or program areas of expertise, as necessary.

Qualifications

To qualify for the GS-13, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in federal service.  Examples of experience includes planning complex and diplomatically sensitive international trips, to include: developing the schedule for the trips, identifying requirements for travel, coordinating with local and international partners, and developing timetables and itineraries; performing complex analysis of international locations; facilitating groups; preparing remarks and briefing materials and leading and analyzing projects.

In addition to meeting the minimum qualification requirements described above, all candidates must meet the following selective factor.  Candidates who do not show that they meet the selective factor will no longer receive consideration for the position.

Selective Factor: Experience planning complex trips that are diplomatically sensitive.

Education

Education may enhance skills required for this position; however, no substitution of education for specialized experience may be made at this level.
