Providing guidance and supervision to staff to include the evaluation of work by subordinates, identifying training needs, adjusting priorities and hearing/resolving complaints of employees
Supporting and communicating EEO policies/plans and programs; make recommendations or counsel employees regarding appointments/promotions and/or administrative matters
Oversee workload and research priorities within the organization
Establish goals and objectives for the assigned research area and organize efforts to initiate pioneering programs and resolve
critical issues involving accomplishment of the research
Actively collaborate in the planning, development, implementation, and administration of research and training programs,
projects, contracts, conferences, and workshops
Administer clinical and basic research projects
Plan, organize, and direct research programs involving direct patient care using applied and/or basic research
Review, analyze, and investigate clinical trials, protocols, and the treatment of patients
Analyze, evaluate and interpret scientific and clinical data to prepare papers for publication and presentation
Conceptualize new research direction and projects
Create drug development plans, including Phase I, II and III clinical trials

Qualifications
License:
Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Basic Requirements:
Degree: Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from a school in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicant's graduation. [A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school that provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States may be demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) (or a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed pre-medical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country).]
AND
Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, a candidate must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training. Graduate training programs include only those internship, residency, and fellowship programs that are approved by accrediting bodies recognized within the United States or Canada.
To Qualify at the GS-15 Grade Level:
In order to qualify at the GS-15 level, the applicant must possess 5 years of graduate training in the specialty of the position to be filled or equivalent experience and training.
