Duties

Help

As a Photographer GS 1060 12, your typical work assignments may include:

  • Performing a variety of specialized still photography requirements including, but not limited to, ceremonies, events, and other specialized work experiences.
  • Reviewing incoming requests and coordinating with requesters to determine the photographic requirements of the subject in relation to the technical problems or situations.
  • Experience operating standard and highly specialized cameras and performing precise photographic operations with electronically timed high-speed cameras and exposures.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience:
You qualify for the GS-12 grade level (starting salary $83,398) if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as:

  • Planning photographic coverage of special projects, events, or activities to determine the extent of photographic coverage required and to anticipate photographic opportunities.
  • Using digital cameras and processes related to their function and products.
  • Communicating with people outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, government, and other external sources. Working with principles and subjects to position scenes to maximize photographic impact.
  • Capturing dynamic still and DSLR video imagery for standalone and social media usage, and for use with articles.
Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.
