Duties

Help
  • You will develop, design, direct and teach undergraduate introductory, intermediate and advanced language courses in Russian
  • You will demonstrate a commitment to undergraduate education and expertise in instructional technology.
  • You will lead and guide student research and provide academic counseling and mentorship to the undergraduate students (cadets) at the United States Military Academy.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: U.S. Citizens and Non-Citizens with Allegiance to the United States.

This is a full-time academic tenure-track position with an initial term appointment in the excepted service starting on or about July 6, 2020 and not to exceed 3 years. Term appointments may be extended beyond the initial term. Faculty who attain the academic rank of Associate Professor or Professor may have the opportunity to non-competitively receive a permanent appointment in the excepted service. As a term employee you will be eligible for medical insurance, life insurance, retirement, dental and vision. You will be eligible to earn annual leave and sick leave.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must (a) hold a bachelor's degree that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject matter field appropriate to the position, OR (b) possess a combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above.

SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR/KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Applicants will be evaluated on the following factors: 1) Academic Accomplishment in Russian (a Ph.D. is preferred); 2) Native or near native fluency in Russian and English; 3) Demonstrated ability to teach at the college level (a background in Russian literature instruction is preferred); and 4) Ability to mentor undergraduate students and support student activities inside and outside the classroom.
