Duties

Help
  • Serves as an Instructor in the CYS Instructional Program.
  • Implements changes and adjustments to instructional program and plans to meet unusual situations associated with the needs of individual children and youth.
  • Interacts with children and youth using approved child guidance and youth development techniques.
  • Acts to stimulate and encourage participant interest and to establish an environment that promotes positive child and youth interactions with other children, youth, and adults.
  • Observes program participants for signs that may indicate illness, abuse or neglect and reports as directed.
  • Plans and conducts special events for parents designed to promote the instructional program while encouraging parents to become involved.
  • Provides care, oversight, and accountability for program participants in compliance with DoD, Army and local policies, guidance, and standards.

  • Completed and signed DA Form 3433 is required prior to entrance on duty.
  • All required background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, Chapter 2, paragraph 2-13; i. must be successfully completed and maintained to include the initiation/completion of Child and Youth National Agency Check with Inquiries (CNACI).
  • Successful completion of prescribed training (transition and/or annual) and demonstrated on the job competency is required.
  • Immunizations may be required as a condition of employment for the health and safety of those in the facility as determined by medical authority.
  • Already immune individuals (based on documented receipt of vaccine series or physician diagnosed illness), or those subject to religious exemption, or medical contraindication are exempt from this requirement.
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

1. Possess a high school diploma or GED certificate.
2. Be able to communicate in English (both written and verbal).
3. Be 18 years of age at the time of appointment.
4. Possess and maintain the physical ability to lift and carry up to 40lbs, walk, bend, stoop and stand on a routine basis. Duties
may involve working both indoors and outdoors.
5. Possess and maintain health and freedom from communicable disease.
6. Demonstrated skill/evidence of competence in gymnastics.

***HIGHLY PREFERRED CRITERIA***
Applicants meeting the highly preferred criteria below will be sent to the hiring official first.
1. Possess a Professional Certificate/Credential. Associates Degree or higher with 15 semester hours of college credit in gymnastics.
2. Two years experiencer in competitive gymnastics.
3. Has various skill levels on floor, beam, vault and bars.

Education

Must possess a high school diploma or GED certificate.
