Duties

Help
  • Write and edit concisely written documentation to determine the adequacy of content and source materials used, as well as the amount and type of information required by the audience.
  • Assist staff in preparing clear, accurate and concisely written documents to executive leadership.
  • Coordinate with authors during the revision process to achieve substantial degree of balance that viewpoints are presented fairly.
  • Certify accuracy and completeness of subject matter within written material from high level leadership.
  • Provide technical expertise on presentation of graphics based on the psychology of effective visual communication.
  • Select tabular or graphic maternal is needed for a clear presentation.
  • Review documents to ensure they comply with established policies and procedures.
  • Review executive level written material for editorial quality, consistency, and compliance with established style, format and content guidance.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: review executive level correspondence for editorial quality, consistency and compliance with established writing style, format and content guidance; assist staff in preparing clear, accurate and concisely written documents to executive leadership; write and/or edit editorial policies, practices guidelines and/or standards. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

  • This position is a term position and may be extended in one year increments up to a maximum of eight (8) years. The first NTE date will be 13 months, any other extension will be in one year increments.
  • This position may be converted to permanent career or career-conditional appointment without further competition as long as all requirements are met. To be eligible for conversion, employee must complete at least 2 years of current continuous service under a term appointment in the competitive service AND employee must have a current performance rating under such term appointment of at least fully successful or equivalent.
  • You will be required to sign a MOU (Memorandum of understanding) for the conditions of the TERM appt.
