All United States citizens, nationals, or those who owe allegiance to the United States; and Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) eligible (only applicable if you have worked in the Federal government).
The Secret Service is looking for talented individuals with extensive knowledge of network infrastructure and network hardware as well as the ability to implement, administer and troubleshoot network devices including WAPs, ASAs, routers, switches and controllers. You should also have demonstrated proficiency in Autodesk, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite (including Visio) and the ability to learn SketchUp, PuTTY, Wireshark, GNS3 and Cisco Packet tracer. You will be responsible for the development, test, modification, design, operation, integration, and maintenance of a wide variety of complex computer and radio frequency (RF) network systems. Some of these systems may be comprised of numerous interrelated components arranged in nonstandard configurations. These systems and their components must function 24 hours a day, 7 days a week as the functionality directly impacts the Secret Service mission.
Special Requirement: Selectee must have or be able to attain a DHS Level I Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) Certification during the first 12 months of employment. Also, the selectee must achieve a DHS Level II COR certificate in the following 24 months.
Work is performed in a variety of settings which may include an office, lab, rooftops, at airports and outdoor field installations, close quarters and/or confined spaces.
Must be able to work holidays, evenings, weekends and during inclement weather and government shutdowns as required to support operations
Will be subject to on-call and irregular work hours
Certify you have registered with the Selective Service System if you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, or certify you are exempt from having to do so under Selective Service law.
Qualifications
You must demonstrate at least one (1) year of the defined specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level and meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR).
Specialized experience is defined as:
GS-12: performing duties such as: designing, installing, documenting, maintaining and administering computer networks including systems software, applications software, hardware and other related systems; performing disaster recovery operations, protecting data, software, and hardware from attacks by coordinating, planning and implementing network security measures; configuring and administering routing and switching equipment, hosted IP voice services and firewalls in line with Information Technology (IT) security policies, replacing faulty network hardware components and working closely with users to identify potential issues, correct existing problems and provide remote support to on-site end users.
GS-13: performing duties such as: operating as a senior technical expert in fielded technology(s) providing continuing program management by preparing operational and maintenance specifications and guides for end-users; providing training and technical briefings regarding the use, installation, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of equipment; developing standards and testing plans to assure reliability of system performance throughout its life and ensuring that equipment is properly maintained.
