Summary

Providing information on US Department of Commerce and other US government programs to support expanding trade and assisting US companies in identifying and exploring export opportunities in overseas markets.
Responding to requests for information on market conditions, trade opportunities, and problems affecting trade in the region.
Planning, developing, and implementing export programs and strategies for US companies; analyzing trade statistics and contribute to market research efforts.
Preparing summaries, articles, or short reports on current trade issues.
Developing and maintaining appropriate contacts with US industry, US Government agencies, and international organizations involved in international trade.

Qualifications

Basic Requirement: You must meet one of the items listed below (A, B, or C):A.Possess undergraduate level education in the following Major study -- global business management, global public policy, international finance, business administration, textile and apparel studies, political science, economics, marketing, international trade, international business, international affairs, international relations, international economics, or other related fields of study. Possess graduate level education in the following Major study -- international policy, international commerce, international management, intercultural relations, international development, global economy, government and foreign affairs, international business, international trade, international economics, international affairs, international relations, or other related fields of study. Possess experience that demonstrated the application of knowledge of international economic and political factors influencing the flow of goods and services between countries; the impact of government policies and regulations, business conditions, and market structures on international competitiveness; or of problems and techniques relating to the sales and marketing of goods and services in world markets.

Minimum Qualifications: GS-09: You qualify for the GS-09 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal government, performing the following duties:
Working with or advising on the export of goods and services to foreign countries.
Researching trade and economic data.
OR two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree; or a combination of the required experience and education for this grade level.
Minimum Qualifications: GS-11: You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal government, performing the following duties:
Providing guidance on or assisting in the export of goods and services to foreign countries.
Researching, interpreting and analyzing trade and economic data.
Utilizing trade statutes and regulations in coordinating and supporting government trade programs and events.
OR aPh.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related or a combination of specialized experience and graduate level education.
