Summary

This job opportunity is for a IT Speciailist (Information Security) position, position description T5807800/T5821200, within the 108 WGH WG of the New Jersey Air National Guard. This vacancy announcement is a Title 5, Excepted Service position.

The purpose of this position is to serve as the Base Information Assurance Manager and focal point for Information Warfare and all telecommunications and information technology security related functions.

Duties

Help

As a IT SPEC (INFOSEC), GS-2210-9/11, may be expected to accomplish the following:

  • Administer the COMPUSEC Program and protects Information Technology (IT) assets against unauthorized, accidental, or deliberate modification, disclosure, and destruction of data.
  • Serve as the Base Computer Security (COMPUSEC) Manager.
  • Administer the Network Security Program.
  • Administer the Communications Security (COMSEC) program.
  • Manage the COMSEC account for the Wing/Base and subordinate units.
  • Administer the Electronic Key Management System (EKMS) or Key Management Infrastructure (KMI) program.
  • Manage, develop, and conduct the base computer Security Awareness Training and Education Information Assurance Awareness Program
  • Serve as the central focal point for all Time Compliance Network Orders (TCNO) system vulnerability alerts.

Category VI: Open to Title 32 Permanent Technicians within the New Jersey National Guard

Security Clearance: This position requires the Selectee to possess an Active Secret Security Clearance and obtain a Top Secret Security Clearance.
Selectee will have one (1) year of the Appointment to obtain a Top Secret Security Clearance.

Other Requirements:

  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
Certification Requirements:
GS-9 REQUIREMENT - MUST HAVE DOD INFORMATION ASSURANCE LEVEL I CERTIFICATION
GS-11 REQUIREMENT - MUST HAVE DOD INFORMATION ASSURANCE LEVEL II

General Experience:
Must have the following experience(s):

  • Performing data processing functions
  • Applying general management principles
  • Using automated work processes
  • Working as a computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or similar position
  • Using computer programs and systems
Specialized Experience:
Must have 24 months of the following experience(s) (GS-09):
  • analysis of the interrelationship of pertinent components of the system
  • Planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment
  • Scheduling the sequence of programs to be processed by computers
  • Weighing alternatives to ensure production efficiency

Must have 36 months of the following experiences (GS-11):
  • Applying computer applications
  • Planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment
  • Coordination with others outside the organizational unit
  • Developing project controls
  • Adapting guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment
  • Preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies
  • Summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion

CERTIFICATE - GS-09: You must have DOD Information Assurance Technician Level (IAM-I) certification or obtain/maintain certification within six months of employment date.
CERTIFICATE - GS-11: You must have DOD Information Assurance Technician Level (IAM-II) certification or obtain/maintain certification within six months of employment date.


Education

SUBSTITUTING EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE:

At the GS-9 level: A masters or equivalent graduate degree - 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree may be substituted
At the GS-11 level: A Ph.D. or equivalent, or 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.

Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
