Duties

Help
  • Opens and unpacks cartons of materials and removes contents. Moves or uses hand truck to move various items requiring delivery or storage. Sets up and breaks down multi-functional areas.
  • Polices assigned areas, collects and disposes of trash and debris, cuts grass and pulls weeds, waters grass and flower beds, spreads mulch, and rakes leaves. Shovels snow and puts down salt.
  • Washes and waxes vehicles.
  • Sweeps, vacuums, mops, scrubs and waxes floors. Uses industrial household cleaners to clean, disinfect and deodorize windows, mirrors, fixtures, and facilities. Replenishes supplies as necessary.
  • Reports facility condition to supervisor including the need for repairs. Dusts and polishes furniture. Empties trash.
  • Performs all duties as assigned.

  • Must be able to frequently lift and carry moderate objects up to 30 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 45 pounds
  • Must be able to actively bend, stoop, stand, reach, and work in awkward positions
  • Must be willing to work nights, weekends and holiday shifts. May be assigned irregular duties for recreation events and related requirements
  • A successful background investigation Tier 1 (NACI) submission to the Office of Personnel Management is a condition of employment that must be met no later than 30 calendar days after placement in the position

Qualifications

Three (3) months of laboring experience required. Must have the ability to use, control and clean tools and power equipment used,and ability to follow oral and/or written instructions involving duties with several distinct tasks or steps without constant supervision of each task assigned.

Army Installation Management Command

The FMWRC mission is to create and maintain "FIRST CHOICE" MWR products and services for America's Army, essential to a ready, self-reliant force.

This is a Standing Register announcement and will be used to fill Intermittent (Flex) positions as they become available. Positions will be located at one of the MWR Community Recreation Division Facilities of JBLM.

Located in the heart of the Pacific Northwest's Puget Sound region, Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) is the Defense Department's premiere military installation in the northwest and is the most requested duty station in the Army. Fort Lewis, named after Meriwether Lewis of the Lewis and Clark expedition, is one of the largest and most modern military reservations in the United States and consists of 87,000 acres of prairie land cut from the glacier-flattened Nisqually Plain.

The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is the JBLM local commuting area. (Military Spouse Preference (MSP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) Preference eligible candidates are included in the area of consideration).
