Duties

Help
  • You will serve as a Supervisory Computer Scientist and member of a team which provides a centralized capability for software engineering and development and implementation for scientific and engineering mission applications.
  • You will use professional knowledge of theoretical foundations of computer science including computer architecture and software development tools necessary for software engineering for real-time and data analysis computer systems.
  • You will serve as an expert in the field of Software Intensive Systems product assessment and evaluation, software measurement and risk management.
  • You will conduct and lead experimental and investigative efforts to invent, design, develop, validate and apply quantitative evaluation technologies and processes for targeted work.
  • You will lead personnel in research and development of software designed to exploit adversary vulnerabilities which provide countermeasures to adversary Cyber tools and deliver Cyber capabilities.
  • You will provide supervisory technical leadership by setting performance standards and schedule training and assignments for development efforts as well as giving advice and instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area level 621 within 6 months of appointment.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • A successfully completed Counterintelligence (CI) scope polygraph examination with No Deception (ND) is required.
  • You will be required to obtain access to NSA/U.S. Cyber Command facilities and networks through further security screening processes.

Qualifications

For Supervisory Computer Scientist position: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
*Experience providing supervisory technical leadership by prioritizing actions and establishing deadlines to develop technical solutions for information operations and analysis related to national security topics, intrusion analysis, systems and vulnerabilities, network security, advance analytic tools and data visualization techniques.
*Experience giving advice, counsel or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters.
*Experience using Python, Java, and Java script develop and maintain custom code to analyze network traffic and associated protocols.
*Experience conducting extensive research to explore and forecast new technology trends, software engineering development opportunities and target cyber domains and other vulnerabilities.
*Experience conducting and leading experimental and investigative efforts to invent, design, develop, validate and apply quantitative evaluation technologies and processes.

Education

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
