Duties

Help

  • Reviews, writes, edits and proofreads narrative and numerical data to help lead and guide audit teams to generate discussion, utilization, and final audit reports and other products.  Works closely with audit teams in the field nationwide in defining the message of each audit report results.  Examples of these other products include OA's portion of the Semiannual Report to Congress and top management challenges, as well as standard operating procedures for audit teams.
  • Ensures that products communicate clearly, convincingly, and tactfully. Analyzes draft products to identify and remove obstacles to clear, convincing, and tactful communication, such as: faulty reasoning; poor organization of evidence provided as support for conclusions stated; lack of enough evidence to prove or support stated conclusions or gaps in logic or evidence.
  • Ensures that reports, documents and correspondence are well written, appropriate in tone and style, professional in format and appearance, consistent with current OA policies and practices, error free, and otherwise meet the high standards set forth for written documents.
  • Performs necessary research and validation of facts required to ensure accuracy and consistency with policy and program directions.
  • Maintains technical expertise throughout professional and technical changes and evolution in the design and production of written products, particularly in respect to electronic publishing systems, to take advantage of new techniques in typesetting, editing, design, printing, and other related areas.

Qualifications

Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-11, in the Federal Service.  

Specialized experience for this position includes the following:

  • Experience in composing documents or correspondence involving non-technical or technical information. Proofreading or editing non-technical or technical writing of others.
  • Experience in preparing written materials that are accurate, clear, logical, well organized, and understandable and contain proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Experience planning, developing and editing written materials for a variety of audiences.
  • Experience using written communications, to improve existing communications for an organization.

Education

There is no substitution of education for the required specialized experience at the GS-12 level.
