Duties

Help
  • Serves as a Computer Scientist as either a team leader, team participant, or independent analyst in U.S. Army Cyber Command (ARCYBER).
  • Responsible for overseeing and modeling complex problems, discovering insights, and identifying opportunities through the use of statistical and algorithmic with mastery data knowledge.
  • Integrates and prepares large, varied datasets, creates specialized databases and computing environments, and communicates results to a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Plans, evaluates, documents, and defends the technology aspects of the ARCYBER Big Data Platform (BDP).
  • Develops innovative and effective approaches to solve analytics problems and communicates results and methodologies.
  • Provides metrics and support for the overall platform to show improvements.
  • Defines the validity of the information, how long the information is meaningful, and what other information it is related to.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • TOP SECRET/SCI CLEARANCE - You must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET security clearance based on SSBI with eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
  • DRUG TESTING -This position is a testing designated position (TDP) in accordance with (IAW) Drug Free Federal Workplace Program. You will agree to submit to urinalysis testing on a recurring basis. You are required to sign a DA Form 5019 form.
  • POLYGRAPH - You must be willing to take and successfully pass a Counterintelligence Scope Polygraph (CI/Poly).
  • MADO/ SIP - must be able to obtain and maintain access to NSA and Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) accredited facilities and networks. [Military Affairs Desk Officer (MADO) Security In-Processing (SIP) process.]

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Computer Scientist:

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in computer science or bachelor's degree (or higher degree) with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes planning, directing, and coordinating the development/maintenance of new or improved computer science methods, techniques, and concepts in support of programs and projects; overseeing and modeling complex problems, discovering insights, and identifying opportunities through the use of statistical, algorithmic, mining, and visualization techniques; and participating in conferences and committees to exchange information, and develop solutions to complex problems.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
