Summary

The incumbent serves as an International Broadcaster (TV/Online) in the Russian Service with responsibility for reporting, writing, editing and producing content for the service's digital and TV platforms. Incumbent anchors live and pre-recorded Internet-TV studio TV shows, and live on-camera interactives with the VOA Russian affiliates. Also serves as video journalist and produces broadcast ready TV packages.

Duties

Help

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  1. Provides original content, adapts VOA Central News production and available wire reports and curates crowd-sourced materials to add value to text, audio and video content.
  2. Serves as an anchor in live or live-to-tape studio programs and live remotes for VOA Russian affiliates. Voices video packages, initiates and conducts original on-camera or via Streambox/Skype interviews with a wide variety of subjects and news sources.
  3. As assigned, serves as a video journalist, covering news events and feature stories of particular interest to the target audience.
  4. Produces/creates complex original TV or online reports focusing on a wide range of issues of interest to the target audience.
  5. Identifies compelling aspects of a story and synthesizes multiple sources of information, including, but not limited to original research and field interviews with VIPs, Russian-speaking experts and intellectuals in the US and Europe.

Qualifications

Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level which is directly related to this line of work AND fluency in the English and Russian languages.

Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.

Applicants' fluency of the Russian language must demonstrate the following: (1) Knowledge of contemporary production techniques, including practical skills in video reporting and production; and (2) Professional knowledge of all aspects of reporting and producing for multiple platforms.

1. If you are an eligible Inter agency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) applicant, you may apply for special selection over other candidates for this position.
