Duties

Help

The Staff Fellow:

  • Provides leadership and management to conceptualize, design, plan and execute research and program activities related to primary care, and practice improvement, and initiatives to disseminate and implement selected patient-centered outcomes research (PCOR) findings including the use of information technology.
  • Writes solicitations to fund these initiatives in consultation with team; oversees selected initiatives as Program Official or Contracting Officers Representative (COR).
  • Coordinates and leads efforts of multi-disciplinary staff to support and assist in Agency dissemination and implementation efforts for the improvement of primary health care.
  • Reviews and synthesizes relevant literature, prepares written summaries and oral briefings to support the development of dissemination and implementation initiatives related to clinical topics.
  • Prepares presentations and presents to Center and Agency leadership on program activities.
  • Serves as program official on extramural grants and as a contracting officer's representative on contracts for CEPI programs.
  • Serves as an authoritative resource in health services research related to primary care, practice improvement and dissemination and implementation. Keeps abreast of new developments within the research field by reviewing pertinent literature and keeping up with findings from relevant professional societies.
  • Serves as the Agency or Center representative at professional meetings and conferences, as well as Agency, interdepartmental, and other task forces and workgroups as needed.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

Applicants must possess a Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.


Additional Qualification Requirements:

In addition to the basic requirement, a Ph.D. or other earned doctorate is required plus four (4) years appropriate post-doctoral medical, health, research experience. (Career civil service equivalent GS-14)

Documenting experience: In accordance with Office of Personnel Management policy, federal employees are assumed to have gained experience by performing duties and responsibilities appropriate for their official series and grade level as described in their position description. Experience that would not normally be part of the employee's position is creditable, however, when documented by satisfactory evidence, such as a signed memorandum from the employee's supervisor or an SF-50 or SF-52 documenting an official detail or other official assignment. The documentation must indicate whether the duties were performed full time or, if part time, the "percentage of times" the other duties were performed. It is expected that this documentation is included in the employee's official personnel record. In order to receive credit for experience in your resume that is not within the official series and grade level of your official position, you must provide a copy of the appropriate documentation of such experience as indicated above.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through national Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.

Education

This position has an education requirement. You must submit a copy of your transcripts (or a list of your courses including titles, credit hours completed and grades). Unofficial transcripts will be accepted in the application package; however, official transcripts will be required prior to receiving an official offer. Failure to submit transcripts or indicate college courses information will cause loss of consideration for this position.
