As a Public Engagement & Events Assistant, (Pathways Intern), you will assist CPA staff with:
Planning events, confirming logistics, collecting information for internal briefing materials, and supporting the overall objective of well-planned internal and external events.
Assisting with logistics, including liaising with the IT department on audiovisual needs, arranging for catering - and outside equipment, and occasionally finding external venues.
Producing invitations, invitation lists, registration pages, and follow-up communications for approval and distribution. Track invite response and event attendance rates.
Working collaboratively with other MCC staff to collect relevant information for background briefing materials or to inform the drafting of talking points for events.
Updating department databases and contacts.
Drafting marketing emails for events and communications campaigns; and coordinating with members of the PA team for smooth running of public engagement activities for communications campaigns.
Assisting in the planning of domestic outreach trips for senior staff.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance
Relocation expenses will not be paid

Qualifications
To be eligible for this internship position the following requirement must be met.
Applicants must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited two-year or four-year college or university, graduate or professional school leading to a degree, diploma, or certificate in public affairs, journalism, communications or a closely related field. Individuals who are enrolled must be taking at least a half-time academic, vocational, or technical course load leading to a degree, diploma, or certificate. "Half-time" is defined by the school in which the student is enrolled.
Applicants must have completed of 2-3 full academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree.
Applicants must have at least a 2.5 GPA.
Education
Only degrees from accredited colleges or universities recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
(www.ed.gov/accreditation) are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute education for experience.
Foreign education must be evaluated for US equivalency to be considered for this position. Please include this information in your resume.
Selectee must sign a Pathways Agreement defining the requirements of the program.
There is no guarantee of conversion to a term or permanent appointment. Conversion is at the sole discretion of MCC management.
This is an excepted service appointment, not-to-exceed one (1) year, under the MCC Pathways Internship Program. After successful completion of the program requirements, at the discretion of MCC, the individual may be converted to a term or permanent appointment. An intern converted to a term appointment may be subsequently converted non-competitively into a permanent competitive service position before the term expires.
