Help

Service and Administration: Directs the Human Relations Education Program integrating character and leadership development for the USAFA. Serves as USAF Academy lead integrator for relationship education and emotional intelligence development (REED). Advises and makes recommendations to the Director, Superintendent and other senior leaders and staff on Human Relations matters. Trains faculty, staff and cadets schedules course and seminars, assesses program success, and plans the future direction of the program. Serves as a subject matter expert providing advice and counsel for gender, relationships, life skills, emotional intelligence and sexual ethics to improve the quality of educational programs. Responsible for course and curriculum development. Performs administrative functions as required to ensure timely and effective instruction, evaluation, and follow-up of students. Participates in faculty governance by attending department and faculty meetings and serving, when requested, on departmental or organizational committees. Effectively briefs academic advisors, faculty, Air Officers Commanding and other USAFA staff members on all Human Relations programs, as required.

Teaching: Instructs and mentors permanent party, cadets, and cadet candidates. Teaches cadets and cadet-candidates in topics of relationships development, life skills, emotional intelligence, gender and sexual ethics during Dean of Faculty, Athletic Department, Commandant of Cadets, and/or Preparatory School courses and programs, as assigned by CCLD leadership. Teaches permanent party in the Permanent Party Professional Development curriculum; delivers well-organized instruction in healthy relationship development and emotional intelligence to integrate into their personal and professional lives. Counsels, coaches, mentors, and evaluates permanent party, cadets and cadet candidates in REED subjects.

Research: Pursues scholarly activities and professional accomplishments through membership in professional societies and participation in conferences or other appropriate activities in order to maintain professional and academic currency in area of specialization or education including character and leadership. Initiates and conducts a program of research in REED topics as they relate to character and leadership that contributes to the body of knowledge. Prepares manuscripts and/or presentations containing the findings of research or scholarly study suitable for refereed publication or other distribution.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: An earned Doctoral degree (must be completed by application deadline) in behavioral science, sociology, psychology, human factors, education or related field

ACADEMIC DISCIPLINES: behavioral science, sociology, psychology, human factors, education or related field.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The Academy seeks an educator and scholar who can lead a Healthy Relationship Education program. Candidates must show demonstrated or presumptive potential for effective teaching, research, consultation, and other scholarly and professional activities. Experience and demonstrated knowledge of adult learning theory, curriculum development, instruction in higher education and outcome evaluation in an educational setting is desired. Experience and demonstrated knowledge with licensing in counseling, couching or consultation with issues such as relationships, sexual assault and harassment, human sexuality, and emotional intelligence is desired.

EDUCATION:
If selected, you will be requested provide original copies of ALL OFFICIAL transcripts for degrees being pursued or obtained (or letter of degree completion if an OFFICIAL transcript is not available due to recent graduation) to support your educational claims as stated in your curriculum vitae. Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For a transcript to be considered OFFICIAL, it should be printed on university letterhead and the registrar's official seal/signature must appear on the transcript. Your transcripts must also reflect the degree awarded/conferred date. Transcripts labeled UNOFFICIAL will not be accepted.

Upon request, ensure you include ALL transcripts to support your educational claims as stated in your curriculum vitae (resume) even if not required for this position.

FOREIGN EDUCATION:
Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the educational requirements. However, you must show proof that the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in a conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying in the form of an "official" statement of U.S. equivalency from a Department of Education approved (non-federal) agency (i.e. AICE, NACES), who will complete a U.S. Standard of Education Conversion.
